New Zealand terrorist attacks’ toll reaches 49

Mubasher: Number of casualties of the terrorist attack on Friday that targeted two mosques in the city of Christchurch in New Zealand increased to 49, while injured people reached 50.

The New Zealand police arrested three men and a woman, including an Australian, following the attacks.

A video that circulated the social media showed a gunman driving to one of the attacked mosques before committing the horrible crime.

“It was a normal day, I was praying Linwood mosque before we heard the gunshots, I was lucky enough to run to a small storeroom before the shooter got inside the mosque and started shooting people,” Arab News reported, citing eyewitness Mazhar Syad Ahmed, as saying.

“This is one of New Zealand's darkest days. Clearly what has happened here is an extraordinary and unprecedented act of violence,” New Zealand’s prime minister Jacidna Ardern commented.
