Egypt to begin e-payment for gov’t services in May
The e-payment cards will enable people to pay any government dues electronically

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Ministry of Finance (MoF) on Tuesday announced that the introduction of e-payment for all government services as of 1 May.

Upon the new act, Egyptian citizens are obliged to pay for government services, including taxes and customs fees, through e-payment methods, according to a statement.

Almost 7,000 payment terminals, also known as point-of-sales devices, were spread across the country in line with the issuance of e-payment cards in collaboration with the banking sector and the Egyptian Post Authority under the supervision of the Central Bank of Egypt, the MoF said.

The payment terminals will be available at the Real Estate Registration offices, directorates of traffic, universities, and municipalities, the ministry added.

The e-payment cards will enable people to pay any government dues electronically, the ministry noted.

The Egyptian Post Authority currently works on providing these cards for citizens at all of its branches at an adequate price, the statement indicated.
