This deal boosts Egypt Vision 2030 Sustainable Development Strategy

Cairo – Mubasher: The US-based VMware and Egypt’s Information Technology Institute (ITI), an affiliate of the communications and information technology ministry (MCIT), have signed a collaboration agreement to develop and broaden information and communications technology (ICT) skills in Egypt.

Under this agreement, VMware will provide knowledge through experimental learning approach to the Egyptian youth in the ICT workplace, according to a press release on Sunday.

This joint agreement aims at enhancing Egyptian ICT students with professional training that will make them bridge the gap between academic studies and the skills needed in the competitive job market today, in addition to empowering local ICT talent and expertise.

“By providing ITI with a broad range of VMware solutions and tools, the next generation of ICT students can develop skills that are relevant, current and comprehensive, and will support the Egypt Vision 2030 Sustainable Development Strategy,” the press release concluded.

VMware and ITI’s agreement follows other significant technology initiatives from the US-based VMware in Egypt, including ‘Cairo is home to the Dell Technologies Centre of Excellence’, an initiative between VMware and Dell Technologies that boost digital transformation in North Africa and beyond.

“This initiative is also a key driver for employment opportunities in Egypt, emphasising software-defined computing, cloud, networking, and security solutions,” the statement further noted.

Egypt’s communication and information technology minister Dr. Amr Talaat presided over the meeting between VMware and Egypt’s Information Technology Institute (ITI), which was attended by chairman of ITI Dr. Heba Saleh, and managing director for Middle East, Turkey, and North Africa at VMware Eng. Ahmed Auda.
