Cairo – Mubasher: Benban solar Park is set to be fully operational in the second half of 2019, the Egyptian electricity minister said on Tuesday.
The electricity ministry has attracted over 32 solar power projects operated by photovoltaic (PV) cells at Benban Solar Park with a total capacity of around 1.5 gigawatts, Mohamed Shaker added in a statement.
This came on the sidelines of a meeting between the minister and the regional director of Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) Masayuki Tanimoto.
During the meeting, both parties tackled means of strengthening ties between Egypt and Japan.
Shaker highlighted that Egypt is willing to coordinate with Japan in providing training, improving the efficiency of energy, and developing solar power technologies and electrical substations, as well as wind turbine energy in the Gulf of Suez.
