Riyadh – Mubasher: The Saudi Telecom Co (STC) plans to permanently shut down the 3G network by 2020.

This decision comes in line with the ‘DARE Strategy’ adopted by the Saudi company to expand STC’s topline, create value with greater efficiencies, while preparing the company for the future as part of the Saudi Vision 2030.

Earlier in 2019, STC announced that it has endorsed 600 locations with the 5G network, according to a press release on Sunday.

STC added that it will keep the 2G network open and available for its customers to use voice services and text messages.

It is noteworthy that all telecom operators across the globe are considering the shutdown of the 3G network to pave the way for more developed system networks.
