Amazon officially opens in UAE
Souq was bought by Amazon for $580 million in 2017

UAE – Mubasher: After months of speculation, Amazon will finally offer its US products in the UAE.

Customers in the UAE were only able to access Dubai-based Souq.com, which offered a small range of the US giant’s products as well as items from third-party sellers, according to TimeOut Dubai.

Now with the combination of Souq and Amazon.ae, buyers will be able to find up to five million products from Amazon’s US website at competitive prices.

The website and mobile application have also been adjusted for Arabic-speaking shoppers.

“Our combined team in the region has grown to over 3,600 employees, and each and every one of us is thrilled to invite UAE customers to join us on this journey, where we will continue to grow our product range, ensure great prices, and provide a convenient and safe shopping experience,” Souq’s co-founder Ronaldo Mouchawar said.

Souq was acquired by Amazon for $580 million in 2017, but in recent months the company has been seeking to attract sellers to include more of their products on Amazon’s website.
