Mubasher: Walmart will deliver groceries directly to customers’ refrigerators, within its push for innovative ways to provide low-cost and rapid delivery of online orders, Reuters reported.
Shoppers will be able to order groceries online, and they will be delivered from a nearby store right to fridges in kitchens or garages.
Walmart will launch the service, using its own workers who have been working for the US retailer for at least a year.
The supermarket chain giant started testing the service in 2017 with smart security firm August Home and third-party courier company Deliv. The test ended last year.
In addition, Walmart's employees will wear a proprietary camera when they enter customers' homes, enabling them to watch the delivery process remotely from their phones.
Starting this autumn, the service will be extended to more than 1 million customers across three cities: Kansas City, Pittsburgh and Vero Beach.
