Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt's strategic wheat reserves are enough to cover the country's needs for up to five months, assistant to the minister of supply said.
The increase in strategic wheat reserves was attributed to the growth in the amount of wheat delivered by local farmers after raising wheat prices for this harvest season, which began in April, Ahmed Kamal told Mubasher.
Egypt has purchased 3.2 million tonnes of local wheat during the season, Kamal previously revealed.
The North African nation will pay farmers between EGP 655 and EGP 685 per ardeb (150 kilograms) of wheat based on quality.
