UAE eyes more cooperation, stronger presence in Africa
Economy ministry will preside over UAE-South Africa Business Forum

UAE – Mubasher: A high ranking delegation from the UAE’s Ministry of Economy (MoE) is participating in the upcoming Africa Trade Week held in Johannesburg from 23 to 25 June.

The delegation includes undersecretary of the MoE foreign trade affairs Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Saleh and director of the trade promotion department Mohammed Nasser Hamdan Al Zaabi, along with senior officials and representatives from the federal and local authorities and the UAE’s private sector, according to a statement.

“The Minister of Economy will also preside over the UAE-South Africa Business Forum on 25 June, which will review investment opportunities in both countries in the presence of major investors,” the statement added.

By the participation in the continental economic event, the Emirati delegation is aiming to support the country’s exports and enlarge its role in major African markets, especially in South Africa.

The trade exchange between the UAE and South Africa reached AED 14.1 billion ($3.84 billion) in 2018.

The Africa Trade Week will attract over 10,000 participants from industry, economy, and commerce ministries, senior investors, businessmen, and heads of major industrial companies from 53 countries.
