Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt ranked fifth among the world top recipients of remittances during 2018, according to a report by the World Bank (WB).
The North African country's remittances reached $28.9 billion last year, the WB’s data showed.
India topped the list in 2018 with $78.6 billion remittances, followed by China and Mexico, which recorded $67.4 billion and $35.4 billion, respectively.
Remittances from expatriate Egyptians declined by 6.1% year-on-year during the first nine months of fiscal year 2018/2019, according to official data released by the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE).
