Mubasher: Tech firm Emerson announced that it completed its $48 million cloud engineering software-as-a-service (SaaS) contract for the Shah Deniz 2 project in Azerbaijan, the first subsea project in the Caspian Sea, according to the US company’s statement.
Emerson is fulfilling an ongoing five-year contract, ensuring reliability and safety during operations at the $28 billion megaproject, operated by oil and gas giant BP.
As the main automation contractor, Emerson’s solutions helped reduce automation engineering complexity, and thus, production at the project started more than four months earlier than scheduled.
“Emerson’s Project Certainty model is designed to help companies ensure that complex projects do not overrun timelines and budgets, and Emerson’s [main automation contractor] services are a core element of that strategy,” the company’s automation division group head for systems and solutions Jim Nyquist said.
Moreover, Emerson’s advanced solutions, including predictive reliability and dynamic simulation, would help address reliability issues before their impact is felt in production, while improving further production performance before execution.
