Mubasher: Dubai-based Aleph Hospitality entered into a franchise deal for Marriott’s new Protea Hotel in Kenya, according to the hospitality management company’s statement on Tuesday.
Under the agreement, Aleph will manage Bluewater Hotels’ newly-established property under the global hotelier’s Protea Hotels brand.
“As the hotel owner, we benefit from the reputation and distribution of a major global brand, coupled with the regional knowledge and expertise of Aleph Hospitality, known for its world-class approach to independent hotel management,” Bluewater Hotels’ managing director Edward Guda said.
The new hotel, located in Kisumu just 9 kilometres away from the city’s international airport, will be comprised of 125 rooms, with three food and beverage outlets.
The signing of Protea Hotel, which is due to open in January 2022, is Aleph’s latest in Kenya, after the deal of Best Western Plus Westlands, to open in Nairobi in the fourth quarter of 2019, and two other properties in Mombasa and the Kenyan capital.
