Saudi current account surplus to hit SAR 43.2bn in Q2-19

Riyadh – Mubasher: Saudi Arabia’s current account surplus is expected to reach SAR 43.2 billion in the second quarter of 2019, compared to SAR 34.9 billion a year earlier, according to early estimates released by the Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority (SAMA).

The expected increase in the GCC country’s current account surplus is supported by a SAR 73.5 billion surplus in the balance of goods and services.

Deposits of banks operating in Saudi Arabia grew by 3.9% to SAR 1.677 trillion during the second quarter of 2019, compared to the year-ago period.

Saudi Arabia’s foreign reserve assets increased by 2.7%, or SAR 49.6 billion, quarter-on-quarter, to reach SAR 1.913 trillion in the second quarter of 2019. The kingdom’s foreign assets rose by 1.5% year-on-year.
