The World Bank aims to increase women’s participation in the labour market

Cairo – Mubasher: The World Bank plans to raise its allocated investments in human capital in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) to $2.5 billion by 2024 from $1.119 billion in 2019.

The international financial institution stressed the importance of meeting the needs of each country through its programme in the region, according to a statement released by the Egyptian Ministry of Investment and International Cooperation on Thursday.

Increasing women’s participation in the labour market will add $2.7 trillion to the region’s gross domestic product (GDP) by 2025, the World Bank noted.

Egypt, among 68 countries, signed the World Bank’s human capital plan which comes in line with the government’s plans, especially after launching the new comprehensive health insurance system, building new hospitals, raising the efficiency of existing hospitals, and increasing the number of schools.
