Dubai – Mubasher: Etisalat Digital, a business unit of Emirates Telecommunication Group (Etisalat), has partnered with Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC) to make Jumeirah Lakes Towers (JLT) the first fifth generation (5G)-powered district of its kind in the region.
Both entities will start launching smart services later in October across JLY, home to thousands of residents and companies in Dubai, according to a statement on Sunday.
This partnership comes in line with Smart Dubai 2021 strategy to be the happiest city in the world.
“With Etisalat Digital’s support, DMCC will introduce a new wave of innovation to Dubai,” DMCC’s chief operating officer, Feryal Ahmadi, stated.
“The smart solutions planned will accelerate our sustainability drive and increase safety, reduce health risks, lower pollution, boost social connectedness and ultimately, deliver a cleaner and more sustainable environment for all,” she noted.
Moreover, Etisalat Digital plans to launch smart services, devices, and platforms to enhance the efficiency of energy consumption, asset and building management, and public facilities.
The smart services to be rolled out by Etisalat Digital are mainly related to parking, traffic monitoring, street lighting, noise pollution, environmental performance, air quality.
“Both entities will work together to empower the community, reduce environmental footprint, provide smart solutions to improve infrastructure and transportation and deliver efficient public utilities,” the group chief business officer at Etisalat, Salvador Anglada, remarked.
“This smart city project is in line with Etisalat’s vision of ‘Driving the Digital Future to empower societies’ and commitment to support the government’s vision as well as the development of smart technologies across the UAE,” Anglada noted.
