UK’s Labour Party agrees to back December snap election

Mubasher: The UK’s main opposition Labour Party on Tuesday announced that it would back Prime Minister’s Boris Johnson’s call for early election in December, France 24 reported.

Premier Johnson called for an election on 12 December, but Labour and other opposition parties were demanding a date nearer to 9 December.

The decision by leaders of the European Union (EU) on Monday to postpone Brexit to 31 January indicated that “our condition of taking No Deal off the table has now been met,” the party’s leader Jeremy Corbyn said.

Johnson is due to bring forward on Tuesday a bill to legislate for the general election, which would be passed by the parliament in the next few days.
