Eurozone industrial output edges up in September

Mubasher: Industrial output in the Eurozone expanded slightly by a 0.1% in September, following a rise of 0.4% in August, official data showed on Wednesday.

Furthermore, industrial production in the 28-member European Union (EU28) rose by 0.2% last September, after recording no change in the preceding month, according to the Eurozone’s statistical office, the Eurostat.

On an annualised basis, however, industrial production in the Eurozone dropped by 1.7% last September, while the EU28 posted a year-on-year 1.2% fall.

In the Eurozone, non-durable consumer goods production climbed by 1% and capital goods by 0.6%, whereas durable consumer goods shrank by 0.7%, energy output by 0.8% and intermediate goods by 0.9%.

As for the EU28, non-durable consumer goods output rose by 0.9% and capital goods by 0.6%.

However, the production of durable consumer goods fell by 0.1%, energy by 0.4% and intermediate goods by 0.7%.

The highest growth figures were observed in Ireland at 8.8% and Hungary at 3.1%, while Denmark, Croatia and Lithuania all registered a growth of 2.5%.

On the other hand, the steepest declines were logged in Malta at 3.7%, Portugal at 2.3% and Estonia at 1.5%.
