EGX ends Tuesday down; market cap shrinks EGP 7bn
Turnover reached EGP 1.66 billion

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) closed Tuesday’s trading session on a negative note.

The benchmark EGX30 index dropped by 1.38%, ending the mid-week session at 13,781 points.

Meanwhile, the small- and mid-cap EGX70 index fell by 0.63% to 530.89 points, while the broader EGX100 index declined by 0.87% to 1,398 points.

Likewise, the equal-weighted EGX50 index retreated 1.21% to close at 2,010 points.

Market capitalisation shrank by EGP 6.89 billion to EGP 701.04 billion on Tuesday, compared to EGP 707.93 billion on Monday.

Trading volume amounted to 114.25 million shares exchanged at a turnover of EGP 1.66 billion (including EGP 1.11 billion for shares and EGP 497.03 billion for primary-dealer bonds) through about 25,250 transactions.

Arab and foreign investors were net sellers with EGP 30.29 million and EGP 494.13 million, respectively, while Egyptian investors were net buyers with EGP 524.43 million.
