Mubasher: Kuwait’s investments in Jordan came in at $18 billion last year, according to a senior Kuwaiti commerce chamber official said on Monday.

The volume of trade between Kuwait and Jordan, reached KWD 80 million ($264 million), the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s director general Hamad al Omar said.

Kuwait’s exports to Jordan grew notably by 23% to KWD 30 million between 2016 and 2018, mostly plastics and petrochemical products.

Moreover, Jordan’s Kuwait-bound exports jumped by 22% to KWD 50 million, during the same two years.

The bilateral agreements on free trade and taxes, clinched in 2001, boosted and expanded investments between the two countries over the past year.

Al Omar’s announcement came on the sidelines of a visit by a Jordanian delegation led by the head of the Hashemite Fund for the Development of Jordan Badia Jamal Al-Fayez.
