Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s tourism income grew by 6.7% year-on-year during the first quarter of fiscal year 2018/2019.
The most populous Arab nation’s travel receipts amounted to $4.19 billion in the three-month period ended 30 September, compared to $3.93 billion in the prior-year period, according to a report issued by the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, travel payments increased to $955 million in the July-September period from $717 million in the corresponding period a year earlier.
Egypt’s balance of payments (BoP) registered an overall surplus of $227.3 million in Q1 of FY19/20, down by 19.9% year-on-year from $284.1 million.
