Middle East tensions boost oil prices at Friday’s settlement

Mubasher: Oil futures settled higher on Friday, rising 2.2% for the week, as tensions mount in the region after the US targeted an Iranian general.

February Nymex WTI grew by $1.87, or 3.1%, to close at $63.05 per barrel.

Yesterday, US air forces targeted Iranian Major-General Qassem Soleimani, head of the elite Quds Force, in an airstrike on a convoy at Baghdad airport.
