Cairo – Mubasher: The Suez Canal Authority’s (SCA) revenue increased by 1.3%, or $731 million, to reach $5.8 billion in 2019.

Around 8.3% of international trade, 25% of total containerised goods, and 100% of seaborne containers between Asia and Europe cross Suez Canal, the SCA’s chairman Osama Rabie stated on Saturday.

The number of ships crossing the canal grew by 3.9% to 18,880 in 2019, compared to 18,170 in 2018, Rabie added.

Meanwhile, the volume of the crossing goods rose to 1.031 billion tonnes last year, from 983 billion tonnes the year before.
