Cairo – Mubasher: The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) may opt for keeping interest rates unchanged today, according to a report released by SHUAA Securities Egypt.

What may push for that decision is the latest increase in inflation which calls for more patient monetary policy, SHUAA added.

The research company expects that inflation will stand below 7% during January and February.

Egyptian treasury instruments are still able to compete globally, and this competitiveness should not be compromised, SHUAA noted.

The CBE is not in a hurry, it took big steps in 2019, cutting interest rates by 450 basis points which reduced rates to figures nearing pre-floating levels, SHUAA said.
