Mubasher: Facebook is planning to hire 1,000 people in London in 2020, the company’s vice president for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) Nicola Mendelsohn stated on Tuesday, according to Reuters.
The new jobs will cover product development and safety, while more than half of them will be in technology, including software engineering and data science, Mendelsohn revealed.
She added that the new jobs will also include roles in the community integrity team, which monitors content on Facebook, Messenger, Instagram, and WhatsApp.
Facebook finds London appealing due to its technology ecosystem and strong creative industries, Mendelsohn said.
Commenting on the Facebook’s latest announcement, UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson described it as great news, adding that his government is “committed to making the UK the safest place in the world to be online, alongside being one of the best places for technology companies to be based.”
The new jobs, to be offered by Facebook this year, will see the number of the company’s employees in the UK increase to over 4,000.
