Abu Dhabi’s CPI falls 0.8% YoY in 2019
The CPI decreased by 0.1% YoY in December 2019

UAE – Mubasher: The Abu Dhabi Consumer Price Index (CPI) declined to 110.7% in 2019, down 0.8% from 111.6% over the same period in 2018, according to the Statistics Centre - Abu Dhabi’s (SCAD) recent report.

In December 2019, the CPI decreased by 0.1%, compared to its figure in December 2018. 

The index levelled down by 0.7% in December 2019, standing at 109.6%, compared to 110.3% in November of the same year.

The ‘housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel’ segment accounted for 140.7% of the overall CPI decrease over the January-December period, posting a 3.7% year-on-year retreat.

The prices of the ‘transport’ group declined by 5.3% YoY last year, contributing 93.2% of the overall decrease.

Moreover, the ‘food and beverages’ group accounted for 29.6% of CPI’s overall retreat during 2019, shedding 2.1% YoY.
