Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s Informal Settlements Development Fund (ISDF) has allocated a budget of EGP 10.82 billion for 2020, the fund’s executive director Khaled Siddiq told Mubasher.  

A total of EGP 5 billion will be injected into unplanned areas, while the remaining amount will be pumped into unsafe areas, Siddiq added.

Earlier, Siddiq told Mubasher that the total amount spent on unsafe informal settlements amounted to EGP 23.5 billion from 2016 to January 2020.

In July 2019, the Egyptian minister of housing Assem El-Gazzar said that there are 357 unsafe areas in Egypt, of which 192 areas have been developed and 164 areas are being developed.

In addition, he further revealed that there are 70 unplanned areas, of which 52 areas have been developed and 18 areas are currently being developed.
