Egypt's furniture regional exports hit $164m in 2019
Saudi Arabia was the top importer with 25%.

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt has exported furniture valued at $265 million in 2019, down by 18% as compared to $324 million in 2018, Middle East News Agency (MENA) reported on Thursday.

Exports to Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Oman, Iraq, and Sudan totalled $164 million last year, accounting for 62% of total exports, the Egyptian Furniture Export Council revealed.  

Saudi Arabia topped the list with 25%, followed by the UAE with 12%, as well as Oman and Iraq with 10% and 8%, respectively.

The number of furniture exporters in Egypt registered 914 by 2019 year-end, of which 84 accounted for 86% of total exports at $227 million.  

Moreover, Egypt’s exports to the UAE dropped by 26% year-on-year (YoY) to $32 million last year, while in Oman and Iraq, they retreated by 24% YoY and 48% YoY, respectively, to stand at $26 million and $22 million, respectively.   

On the contrary, Egyptian furniture exports to Saudi Arabia increased by 10% YoY to reach $65 million by 2019 year-end. 

It is noteworthy that Egyptian furniture exports to Kuwait recorded $3 million in 2019 while hitting $2 million for each of Algeria, China, the Netherlands, Germany, Britain, and France.
