UAE – Mubasher: The Dubai Mall has introduced the pre-validation value-added tax (VAT) refund pilot service ‘City Validation’ in the UAE, becoming the country’s first mall to use this innovative service.

Launched in partnership with Planet, an international payment service and technology provider, the service allows customers to claim their VAT refunds while shopping via seven self-service kiosks deployed across the mall, according to a press release on Sunday.

At kiosks, tourists should present a valid boarding pass, their original passport or GCC national ID used for tax-free shopping, the original receipts, and tax-free tags issued by the merchant to refund the VAT.
