Mubasher: The Preliminary tests conducted on passengers arriving from Iran’s Mashhad city indicated three confirmed cases carrying the China coronavirus (COVID-19).
The cases include a 53-year-old Kuwaiti citizen, a 61-year-old Saudi national, the ministry revealed on its official Twitter page on Monday.
The patients are now in a normal condition and have not shown any symptoms of the novel coronavirus until the present time.
Meanwhile, the third case is for a 21-year-old stateless man showing initial signs of the virus, the statement said.
All cases are currently under constant medical observation by the health authority.
The health ministry stressed that it has collaborated with competent authorities and bodies to take precautionary measures as per standard scientific recommendations and guidelines approved by the World Health Organisation (WHO). It further conducted surveys to detect the new virus using itemised reagents.
On 23 February, Kuwait planned to evacuate a total of 750 citizens from Iran, with the first batch of five carrying 130 Kuwaiti passengers, in a response to growing concerns over the new virus outbreak.
Additionally, Kuwait Ports Authority (KPA) announced that it would deny entry of vessels coming from Iran in Shuaiba, Doha, and Shuwaikh ports.
