Riyadh – Mubasher: The number of private and public sector employees in Saudi Arabia decreased by 0.57% in the third quarter (Q3) of 2019, compared with Q2-19.

The number reached 8.47 million in Q3-19, compared with 8.52 million in Q2-19, the Economic Indicators Survey by the Saudi General Authority for Statistics (GaStat) showed.

Non-Saudi residents accounted for 77.4% of the number of employees with a total of 6.55 million in Q3-19, compared with 6.61 million by the end of Q2-19, declining by 0.8%.

The number of Saudi employees remained unchanged on a quarterly basis at 1.9 million people.

Construction dominated the largest number of employees with 2.31 million, followed by wholesale and retail with 1.96 million.

The total number of workers reached 12.9 million by the end of Q3-19, of which 3.1 million are Saudi nationals and 9.83 million are expatriates.
