Dubai's clean energy share rises to 9% – DEWA
Dubai's total installed capacity is 11,700 MW of electricity

UAE - Mubasher: The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has announced that around 9% of Dubai's energy is produced from clean resources, according to the Emirates News Agency (WAM).

Generating 9% of Dubai's power from clean resources is more than the 7% target set in the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 for 2020, as shown by DEWA's press release.

The strategy aims to produce 75% of the emirate's total power from clean energy by 2050.

The managing director and CEO of DEWA, Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, noted that Dubai's total installed capacity is 11,700 megawatts (MW) of electricity, including 1,013MW generated from the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park.

Al Tayer added that the projects under construction at the world's largest solar park have a total capacity of 1,850MW, with future phases to produce 5,000MW by 2030.

The managing director and CEO of DEWA further remarked: "We recently signed the power purchase agreement for the 900MW 5th phase of the solar park with a consortium led by ACWA Power and Gulf Investment Corporation. The total investments of the project exceed AED2 billion."
