Twitter begins testing voice tweets for first time

Mubasher: Twitter is testing a new feature that allows users to tweet through their voices, instead of the conventional way of using text and multimedia on the social media platform.

The feature was launched on Wednesday, 17 June 2020, to allow “a more human touch to the way people use Twitter,” according to a press release.

Just as conventional tweets are limited to 280 characters, up from a previous 140 characters, a voice tweet is also starting with up to 140 seconds of audio.

Once the time limit for a Tweet is reached, a new voice Tweet starts automatically to create a thread. Once done, people can tap the ‘Done’ button to end their recording and go back to the composer screen to Tweet.”

It is worth noting that the new feature is available for those using Twitter on Apple’s iOS.
