Riyadh – Mubasher: Saudi Ports Authority (MAWANI) has launched the fourth shipping line during 2020 in partnership with the Dubai-based provider of worldwide smart end-to-end supply chain logistics DP World, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Tuesday.

This is the first direct shipping line linking UAE's Jebel Ali Port in Dubai with Ain Sokhna Port in Egypt via Saudi Arabia’s Jeddah Islamic Port (JII).

“The launch of the new shipping line is one of many initiatives launched by Mawani in pursuit of its strategic objectives,” president of MAWANI, Saad Alkhalb, said.

This move represents a step forward in boosting Saudi Ports to attract more trade, shipping lines, and investments.

“The launch of the first dedicated shipping service connecting Jebel Ali, Jeddah and Sokhna will be a game changer in promoting the much-needed intra-regional trade.” DP World Group’s chairman and CEO Ahmed Bin Sulayem pointed out.

In December 2019, DP World was awarded a build-operate-transfer (BOT) concession by MAWANI to manage and develop Jeddah South Container Terminal at Jeddah Islamic Port.
