UAE's 5G stations reach 2,200 in Q1-20
The number of mobile internet users will amount to 344m in 2025

UAE - Mubasher: The number of fifth-generation (5G) network base stations in the UAE amounted to 2,200 by the end of the first quarter (Q1) of 2020, covering 15% of the country's inhabited area, according to the Emirates News Agency (WAM).

The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) has set a roadmap to achieve 5G deployment since 2016 to place the UAE among the leading countries in developing mobile broadband applications and services.

The authority referred that this objective can be achieved by applying IMT-2020 (5G) initiative in conjunction with the Dubai Expo.

In the Middle East, the number of mobile internet users will amount to 344 million in 2025, and the number of Internet of Things (IoT) devices will surge to 101 billion in 2025, compared to 396 million in 2018, according to a recent report by GSMA Middle East and North Africa.
