GE upgrades ADNOC Refining’s general utilities plant in Ruwais

GE upgrades ADNOC Refining’s general utilities plant in Ruwais
The turbine's total production has increased by 10.7 MW

UAE - Mubasher: General Electric (GE) Gas Power has installed MXL2 upgrade on a GT13E2 gas turbine at ADNOC Refining’s general utilities plant in Ruwais in the UAE to raise the plant's efficiency.

Following the upgrade, the turbine's total production has increased by 10.7 megawatts (MW) while using the same amount of fuel, according to a recent press release.

GE's MXL2 upgrade helps the operators of GT13E2 gas turbines to achieve up to a 1.5% rise in combined cycle efficiency.

Despite the challenges imposed by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, GE Gas Power completed the upgrade in six months instead of 18 months that the project's execution should take.

This project came following the successful upgrades undertaken on two other gas turbines at ADNOC Refining’s general utilities plant in Ruwais over the past years.

The President & CEO of GE Gas Power in the Middle East, North Africa, and South Asia, Joseph Anis, said: "As organizations around the world explore options to balance the growing need for electricity against climate change concerns, upgrade solutions offer an effective and affordable means to increase power output and lower emissions per megawatt generated."
