Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (TAQA) has appointed Afif Saif Al Yafei as a new CEO for its subsidiary Abu Dhabi Transmission and Despatch Company (TRANSCO).

Al Yafei occupied several roles, including executive vice president of asset management in National Central Cooling Company (Tabreed), according to a press release on Sunday.

Before joining Tabreed, he also served in leadership positions at Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC).

Hence, TRANSCO will benefit from the new CEO's experience to strengthen the transformation of Abu Dhabi’s power and water sector. 

Al Yafei's appointment in TRANSCO came after TAQA had concluded its transaction with Abu Dhabi Power Corporation (ADPower) on 1 July to establish one of the largest utility companies in Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) region.

Under the transaction, most of ADPower's power and water generation, transmission, and distribution assets will be transferred to TAQA in exchange for 106.37 billion new shares.

The Group CEO and Managing Director at TAQA, Jasim Husain Thabet, said: "With a strong track record of achievements in the energy industry, substantial technical expertise and solid leadership experience, Dr. Afif will further strengthen TRANSCO’s role in guaranteeing the security and stability of the sector."
