Cairo – Mubasher: RiseUp Summit launched its first virtual event on Thursday, 13 August, RiseUp from Home, in line with the preventive measures against the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

The three-day event is taking place through the online eventtus platform, under the theme “Got Grit?”

In his opening speech, Abdelhameed Sharara, Co-Founder and CEO at RiseUp, said that the COVID-19 crisis has affected the way many startups are conducting their business, but stressed the resilience of the startup ecosystem against crises and the ability of entrepreneurs to overcome the challenges imposed by the pandemic.

Sharara affirmed that the online event does not replace the annual RiseUp Summit, which is set to take place in December for the eighth consecutive year.

Last year, RiseUp Summit 2019 welcomed more than 8,000 attendees from 56 countries in an event that included 17 competitions, 180 exhibiting startups, and 200 workshops.
