Riyadh – Mubasher: Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) said it has recycled around six million litres of transformer oil during the period from 2012 to 2016 to reduce hazardous waste production and the loss of resources.
The milestone captures SEC’s national role and responsibility to protect the environment, limit pollution, protect the public health, and support sustainable development, according to a press release on Wednesday.
The company’s sites monitor emissions from chimneys using mobile or continuous monitoring devices. In addition, they monitor fugitive emissions, industrial wastewater drainage, groundwater pollution, environmental noise, the quality of air for areas around the company’s entities as well as ozone-depleting substances.
