Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: The net profits attributable to the owners of Commercial Bank International (CBI) plunged to AED 27.336 million in 2020, compared to AED 116.734 million in 2019.

The bank's net interest income declined to AED 417.602 million in 2020 from AED 473.379 million in the earlier year, according to the bank's consolidated financial results for the period ended on 31 December 2020.

The bank's net operating income decreased by 5% to AED 740.123 million last year, compared to AED 783.03 million in 2019.

Meanwhile, the basic and diluted earnings per share (EPS) settled at AED 0.016 in 2020, against AED 0.067 in 2019.

Commenting on the bank's performance, the CEO of CBI, Ali Sultan Rakkad Al Amri, said: "2020 has been an unprecedented year in terms of the challenges the world faced due to the Covid-19 pandemic."

It is noteworthy to mention that during the third quarter (Q3) of 2020, the bank's net profits attributable to the owners rose to AED 66.43 million from AED 31.83 million in the corresponding period of 2019.
