Riyadh – Mubasher: The Red Sea Development Company is commencing the infrastructure works at Coastal Village, which is expected to house approximately 14,000 employees who will eventually work at the destination.

The Saudi developer awarded the contract to Contracting and Construction Enterprises (CCE) to design and build infrastructure at the project, according to a press release on Tuesday.

Coastal Village, which is upon completion in 2030, is set to welcome the first guests by the end of 2022, when the international airport and the first hotels will open. Meanwhile, it will become home to the first residents by the second quarter (Q2) of 2021.

The infrastructure of the development is designed to minimize its carbon footprint.

CEO of Red Sea Development, John Pagano, said: “We’re creating a new resort village and CCE is aligned with our commitment to creating this eco-friendly community, making them the perfect partner for this project.”

The Coastal Village will comprise restaurants and cafes, supermarkets, recreational facilities, cinemas, a hospital, a school, beachfront club and associated facilities, and other support and civic buildings.

Earlier this year, Red Sea Development said the estimated cost of its Coral Bloom project is up to SAR 14 billion.
