UAE - Mubasher: Dubai Customs’ Jebel Ali Centre has completed 952,232 transactions in the first four months of 2021, up 71% from 557,318 in the year-ago period.
The centre recorded AED 298.3 billion goods of a volume of 38.848 million tonnes in the January-April period of 2021, according to a press release on Monday.
Meanwhile, Jebel Ali Customs Centre has foiled smuggling attempts, with 64 seizures through 75,434 inspection operations, with the help of the Customs Intelligence Department.
Commenting on the centre's performance, the Director of Sea Customs Centers Management, Yousef Al Hashimi, said: "We put in place an integrated strategy to develop work at Jebel Ali Customs Center in 2021 to ensure a streamlined flow of goods to the local, regional and international markets enhancing Dubai’s role as a global trade hub."
Al Hashimi added: "We have developed our work methods to respond in a better way to the needs of our clients, especially under the current challenge posed by the spread of the Covid-19 crisis."
