UAE - Mubasher: Dubai's consumer confidence index jumped to 151 points during the second quarter (Q2) of 2021, marking its highest level since 2011, according to the quarterly Consumer Confidence Index of Dubai's Department of Economic Development (Dubai Economy).
The emirate's consumer confidence index recorded 145 points in the first quarter (Q1) of 2021 and 125 points in the second quarter (Q2) of 2020.
Introduced in 2011, the consumer confidence index focuses on a consumer's perceptions of the overall economy, personal finance, job opportunities, and intentions and expectations of buying and saving.
The index has shown improvements in consumer perceptions in Dubai during the April-June period, as 84% of consumers were positive about the overall economy, compared to 77% in the year-ago period.
The emirate also registered that 75% of consumers were positive on jobs in Q2-21, compared to 32% in the same period in 2020, and 91% of them expressed their optimism for finding a job in the next 12 months, compared to 75%.
In addition, 81% of consumers were positive about their current personal financial conditions in the April-June period, compared to 57% in the same period in 2020.
