Dubai – Mubasher: Aramex has signed a commitment with the Science-Based Target initiative (SBTi) to cut its greenhouse gas emissions by 2030.

The initiative is in line with Aramex's sustainability strategy to reduce its impact on the environment, decrease energy consumption, and ensure that the company’s progress towards net zero carbon is aligned with climate science, according to a press release on Sunday.

The SBTi is a collaboration between CDP, the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), World Resources Institute (WRI), and the Worldwide Fund for Nature (WWF) to set best practices in science-based target setting.

In 2020, Aramex has reduced emissions per shipment by 20%, driven by its substantial investments in renewable energy and electric vehicles.

The Chief Sustainability Officer at Aramex, Raji Hattar, said: "Aramex has been taking proactive measures to reduce carbon emissions for over a decade, and we continually seek ways to improve our efforts to make a real positive impact, in line with the national commitments to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs), through all the visions and strategies, 2021, 2025, 2030, 2050, and 2071."
