UAE - Mubasher: Amazon has partnered with the Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO) to set up the region's most technologically advanced fulfillment centre in Abu Dhabi, the Abu Dhabi media office reported.

The centre is in line with Amazon's objective to boost innovation in the logistics sector, support entrepreneurship and the growth of the retail ecosystem, and provide job opportunities.

Expected to be launched by 2024, the centre will cover a 175,000-square-meter land plot.

This announcement came following the collaboration between ADIO and Amazon Web Services (AWS) to launch cloud data centres in the UAE.

The Vice President of Amazon Middle East and North Africa (MENA), Ronaldo Mouchawar, said: "We are well-positioned to accelerate their entrepreneurial journey and aspire to help our independent partners grow to their full potential by providing them with logistics, programmes and resources to seamlessly scale their businesses online."

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development, Mohammed Ali Al Shorafa, commented: "The addition of Amazon’s new fulfillment centre further boosts the emirate’s ecosystem by introducing new capabilities and an enhanced infrastructure that deliver benefits to other businesses."
