UAE - Mubasher: The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has raised the production capacity of the first project of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park's fifth phase to 330 megawatts (MW)  from 300MW, the Dubai media office reported.

The energy production of the fifth phase's first project came following the deployment of the latest solar photovoltaic bifacial technologies with Single Axis Tracking.

With total investments of AED 2.058 billion, the 900MW fifth phase is 60% completed.

The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park has a planned capacity of 5,000MW by 2030, with a current capacity of 1,527MW.

To become operational in stages until 2023, the fifth phase will offer clean energy for over 270,000 residences in Dubai and will cut 1.18 million tonnes of carbon emissions annually.

The Managing Director and CEO of DEWA, Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, said: "DEWA is implementing more projects with a total capacity of 1,333MW using solar photovoltaic and Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) in addition to future phases to reach 5,000MW by 2030."

Al Tayer added: "Since its launch, the solar park’s projects have received considerable interest from global developers, which reflects the confidence of investors from around the world in DEWA’s major projects in collaboration with the private sector using the Independent Power Producer (IPP) model."
