Aramex's profits retreat 15% in 2021

Dubai – Mubasher: Aramex has recorded a 15% decline in net profits to AED 225.37 million in 2021, compared to AED 266.65 million in the previous year, according to the company's unaudited preliminary financials for the year ended 31 December 2021.

The company registered revenues of AED 6.07 billion in 2021, up 10% from AED 5.51 billion in 2020.

The company's earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortisation (EBITDA) retreated by 9% to AED 676.4 million last year from AED 741.38 million in 2020.

The earnings per share (EPS) settled at AED 0.15 in 2021, versus AED 0.18 in 2020.

The Chairman of Aramex, Mohamed Juma Alshamsi, said: "The gradual reopening of the global economy in the second half of the year underpinned by the strong progress made by countries in implementing national vaccination campaigns and other related measures, spurred economic growth and improved business performance and customers confidence levels."

Meanwhile, the CEO of Aramex, Othman Aljeda, commented: "2021 demonstrated our ability to capture growth opportunities spurred by a buoyant e-commerce market and good recovery in certain industries, while simultaneously implementing a fully redesigned operating model."

It is noteworthy to mention that during the first nine months (9M) of 2021, the net profits attributable to the equity holders of Aramex decreased by 14% to AED 179.29 million from AED 208.003 million in the corresponding period of 2020.
