Riyadh – Mubasher: NEOM has awarded drill and blast tunnelling deals to two joint venture (JV) groups to implement the infrastructure of what is considered one of the world’s largest transportation and utility infrastructure projects.

The first JV comprises FCC Construction SA, China State Construction Engineering Corporation, and Shibh Al Jazira Contracting Company; (FCC/CSCEC/SAJCO JV), according to a press release on Tuesday. 

Meanwhile, the second deal was awarded to the JV between Samsung C&T Corporation, Hyundai Engineering and Construction Company, and Saudi Archirodon Company; (SHAJV).

The construction project, which is separated by lower and upper geographies, will provide over 28 kilometres in length in addition to separate tunnels for rail services to facilitate the movement of people and goods.

Furthermore, the rock excavated will be processed for reuse within the tunnels and other NEOM projects to ensure minimal impact on natural landscapes.
