CIB’s profits jump 28% in H1-22 results

Cairo – Mubasher: The Commercial International Bank-Egypt (CIB) has logged consolidated net profits after tax worth EGP 7.78 billion in the first half (H1) of 2022, an annual leap of 28% from EGP 6.08 billion, including minority interest.

The net interest income surged by 17% to EGP 13.72 billion in the January-June 2022 period, versus EGP 11.69 billion in the year-ago period, according to a bourse disclosure on Monday.

The basic earnings per share (EPS) rose to EGP 3.48 in H1-22 from EGP 2.75 in H1-21, while the diluted EPS grew to EGP 3.44 from EGP 2.71.

As for the standalone business, the bank reported standalone net profits after tax of EGP 7.77 billion in the first six months (6M) of 2022, a 28% year-on-year (YoY) jump from EGP 6.07 billion.

During the second quarter (Q2) of 2022, the consolidated net profits after tax amounted to EGP 3.52 billion, higher by nearly 10% than EGP 3.21 billion, including non-controlling equity, during the same period a year earlier.

Meanwhile, the standalone net profits after tax totalled EGP 3.53 billion in Q2-22, up 10% from EGP 3.20 billion in Q2-21.

In the January-March 2022 period, the lender's consolidated net profits after tax increased by 48% YoY to EGP 4.25 billion, compared to EGP 2.87 billion, including the minority shareholders' rights.
