Egypt's non-petroleum exports rise to $19.3bn in H1-22

Cairo - Mubasher: Egypt's non-petroleum exports hiked by 20% during the first half (H1) of 2022 to reach $19.35 billion, compared with $16.16 billion in the same period in 2021.

Exports of the chemical industries and fertilisers sector dominated 22% of total non-petroleum exports with $4.33 billion in H1-22, up 35% from $3.21 billion in H1-21, according to data from the General Organization for Export and Import Control (GOEIC).

The construction materials sector accounted for 19% of total non-petroleum exports with $3.69 billion during H1-22, a 20% annual jump from $3.08 billion.

In the meantime, exports of the food and engineering industries sectors accounted for 11% and 10%, respectively of total non-petroleum exports, with $2.14 billion and $1.88 billion, respectively.

Moreover, exports of agricultural crops increased by 10% annually during the January-June period in 2022 to stand at $1.86 billion, whilst exports of ready-made garments went up by 42% yearly to $1.28 billion.
