Dubai - Mubasher: DMCC announced achieving its best-ever year for new member company registrations, attracting 3,049 new businesses to Dubai in 2022, breaking the record of 2,485 new members that was set in 2021.

The remarkable growth was backed by increasing international demand, as DMCC maintained its work in key commodities sectors, according to a press release.

Blockchain and web3 had a positive impact on the social and economic level across all sectors and industries, which helped the DMCC Crypto Centre to enlarge rapidly during 2022, registering more than 500 members.

Furthermore, the centre partnered with global venture capital (VC) firm Brinc to provide its members with access to their $150 million accelerator fund.

DMCC also teamed up with SafeGold and Comtech Gold to tokenise gold bars based in UAE facilities.

DMCC Tradeflow, an online platform for registering the ownership of commodities stored in the UAE, generated a total value of AED 1.63 trillion ($445 billion) last year, a 48% hike from 2021.

Ahmed bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman and CEO of DMCC, said: “Backed by a strong regional macroeconomic landscape, DMCC has been efficiently accelerating its growth strategy throughout 2022, focusing on supporting its member companies in high-impact sectors such as web3 and blockchain technologies, commodities and global trade.”

Feryal Ahmadi, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of DMCC, noted: “With a number of exciting new projects in the pipeline and the unwavering dedication of the entire DMCC team, I am confident that we can carry this momentum forward into 2023.”

“Next year will see DMCC build on its position of strength by further enhancing its services and offerings and forging new partnerships across the globe, all with the ultimate aim of driving new trade flows through Dubai,” Ahmadi continued.
